Our Dynamic Stages of Learning

Building Toward the Trailblazers: Starting with the End in Mind

At Lighthouse Learning, the ultimate goal is to graduate Trailblazers (Grades 9-12), students who are prepared to thrive in dual enrollment, entrepreneurship, leadership, and real-world ventures. Every stage leading up to the Trailblazers is intentionally designed to build the skills, habits, and mindset needed for this ultimate stage of growth. Let’s break down how we reverse-engineer the journey to create confident, capable, and purpose-driven graduates.

What Makes Lighthouse Learning Different?

Differentiated Instruction: At Lighthouse Learning, we meet students where they are by tailoring lessons to their abilities and interests rather than strictly adhering to grade-level standards. This allows each child to progress at their own pace, fostering confidence and a love for learning.

  • Small Class Sizes: Our classrooms maintain a 1:14 student-to-teacher ratio, supported by a dedicated teacher assistant in every class of up to 20 students. This structure allows for individualized attention and fosters strong relationships.

  • Additionally, multiple pull-out teachers and push-in support staff further enhance the learning experience, ensuring every child receives the targeted assistance they need to thrive.

  • Faith-Infused Learning: We integrate faith-based virtues and daily devotionals into the curriculum, providing students with a foundation of character, resilience, and spiritual growth.

  • Project-Based Learning: Through hands-on projects and real-world applications, students engage deeply with the material, developing critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

  • Parental Involvement: We prioritize open communication with families and create opportunities for parents to be actively involved in their child’s learning experience, strengthening the home-school connection.

What’s Next for Lighthouse Learning?

With the foundation firmly established, we are thrilled to share our vision for the expansion of Lighthouse Learning in the near future. We know that this growth is not just about increasing our capacity but about deepening the impact we have on the families we serve. For those already part of our Lighthouse Learning family, the expansion will allow us to offer even more tailored resources, smaller group support, and enriched opportunities for your child to flourish. Families interested in joining us will now have access to the unique programs and individualized attention that make our school so special!

Bridge Builders, Grades 5-6

Our middle school program (grades 5-6) is designed as a crucial bridge between elementary and upper school. This stage helps students develop independence, organizational skills, and a love for inquiry-based learning. With smaller class sizes and tailored academic support, students build a strong foundation for future challenges.

Pathfinders, Grades 7-8

The upper school program (grades 7-8) focuses on preparing students for the rigors of high school. Students will have opportunities to explore advanced topics, develop critical thinking skills, and engage in leadership programs such as the 7 Habits framework. These years are pivotal in helping students gain confidence and readiness for the next step in their academic journey.

Trailblazers Grades, 9-12 (Coming 2026)

Our high school program (grades 9-12) will focus on preparing students to blaze their own trail!. Students can choose their pathway- preparing for college, entrepreneurship, or trade school. Through dual enrollment opportunities, students can earn college credits while still in high school, giving them a head start on their educational journey. We will also emphasize entrepreneurship, helping students discover their unique gifts and talents and teaching them how to turn those into meaningful contributions to the world.

Students will also be able to focus on learning different trades to pursue their career goals and passions. By fostering creativity, innovation, and critical thinking, we aim to prepare students for the dynamic challenges of the modern workforce and inspire them to become leaders and changemakers.

“This is the first time I'm excited to go to school, in a long time.”

“This is the first time I'm excited to go to school, in a long time, and I hope today never ends. I wanna live this day over and over and over again..... Well, no I DO want it to end sometime because I wanna go on Thursday and see what it's like.”

“ We see what they are achieving and planning to do for their community - and we are here for it!”

“So far, my son’s experience at LHL has been surprisingly pleasant, overall positive, and I don't have any complaints. I expected more resistance from our son, but he actually enjoys going to school. My son (who is 6) really enjoys his class, teacher, and especially, Mrs. Oliver. The entire staff has been nothing short of friendly and personable, and from I see, it seems like the staff enjoys being there. My son has only been to one enrichment day, but really enjoyed it.

Like most parents who take their children to LHL, we did not want our son in public school (for many reasons). We feel LHL gives our son an opportunity to be in a more nurturing, while educational environment, 3 days a week is perfect for us. We will continue to grow with LHL.”

Character and Leadership Development K-8th Grade

Curriculum and Learning

Lighthouse Learning will adopt The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey to help students build leadership, responsibility, and personal growth. Here’s how they will apply in our educational setting. These habits help students become leaders, problem solvers, and effective communicators, equipping them for lifelong success.

1. Be Proactive

Take responsibility for your actions, choices, and learning. Example: Students set personal goals and create action plans to improve their skills.

2. Begin with the End in Mind

Have a vision and set goals for the future. Example: Students outline academic and personal growth goals at the start of the year and track their progress.

3. Put First Things First

Prioritize what’s most important. Example: Students learn time management by balancing schoolwork, projects, and extracurricular activities.

4. Think Win-Win

Foster cooperation and seek mutually beneficial solutions.

Example: In group projects, students practice collaboration by ensuring all voices are heard and respected.

5. Seek First to Understand,
Then to Be Understood

Develop strong listening and communication skills. Example: During class discussions, students practice active listening before sharing their perspectives.

6. Synergize

Work together to achieve more.

Example: Students engage in team-based problem-solving activities, valuing diverse strengths and viewpoints.

7. Sharpen the Saw

Maintain balance through continuous self-improvement. Example: Students are encouraged to nurture their physical, mental, and emotional well-being through mindfulness, fitness, and reflection activities.

“Enroll your child here, you will not be disappointed!”

“The pandemic had our son so behind. As a mother, I prayed for a school that would get my son back on track. I prayed for a fun-loving school where he would be able to build his confidence and learn with ease. Not only did this school answer our prayers - I can proudly say our son LOVES to READ! He has excelled in all his subjects and looks forward to going to school. It’s the best decision we’ve made for our son.

This school will change the way we teach our kids to empower them and help them learn at their own pace! Enroll your child here, you will not be disappointed! The bond our son has with the students and teachers are absolutely PRICELESS. You can FEEL the LOVE. Thank you LHL for providing such excellence and understanding that each child has a precious gift.”

Authentic Exposure and Experiences

This is the HIGHEST VALUE of Lighthouse Learning. Our environment is authentic at its core! Our days are structured to allow time for children to learn outdoors, go on field trips, explore, connect with others in our neighborhood, create, play, garden, cook, and learn skills related to real life! There is so much JOY in our days! Your child has a unique opportunity to build leadership skills, participate in community service projects, and learn from guest speakers!

Balanced Approach To Learning

Lighthouse students have a motto, “We work hard and we play hard!” Students are coached and encouraged to work with dedication and excellence. Independent and Cooperative Learning methods are infused through instructional times. Students also have ample opportunities to enjoy this time of childhood with passion projects, choices throughout the day, and time spent outdoors discovering and creating!

Enhanced Learning Environment

Lighthouse students benefit from the small class environment which enhances the child’s learning experience! Research proves children learn faster and perform better in smaller classes. This is a result of individual attention, increased participation, and better communication between the teacher and student!

Education Model/Curriculum

There is no better education model than one infused with Excellence and Enjoyment! No matter the curriculum is chosen, students are given the parameters and permission to extend their learning through various self-selected activities. Our moments of learning are filled with singing, role-playing, creating, and discovering.

Focused on the Child-Individualization

Your child is special and we value his/her participation in our school. Having a small community allows for a “family-like” culture with trust and collaboration. Your child’s unique personality is taken into consideration when lessons are being created. It is essential to determine how your child learns, processes information, and communicates in an effort to grow and gain confidence.

Faith-Based Values

We firmly believe God is the Creator and Sustainer of Lighthouse Learning. Lighthouse Learning is not a religious organization but seeks to infuse Bible-based teachings and discussions throughout our day. Our Lighthouse Learners pray and engage in daily devotionals.

Communication

We value communication in an effort to work collaboratively with our families and students. Weekly emails are sent to all parents as a “Friday Recap.” In addition, monthly newsletters are sent home about the academic focus and special events.

Pillars of Our High-Value Learning

“Lighthouse Learning has been a God-send for my child.”

“The personalized instruction and focus on understanding how my child learns has exponentially accelerated my child's academics and skyrocketed his confidence.

It has given him the opportunity to catch up in a supportive and loving environment. I can't say enough about how it's not only changed my child's life, but ours, as a family. A much more confident, happier, and excited-to-learn child has emerged since starting Lighthouse Learning.

Mrs. Oliver and [the teaching assistants] are amazing and truly adore our children and bring out the best in them through the magical school environment they have created. We even get to use our Step Up for Students grant! I wish I had done this many years ago.”
