K-8th Curriculum and Design

  • At Lighthouse Learning Microschool, our K-5th grade progression is centered around project-based learning, with a strong emphasis on whole-brain teaching and hands-on learning experiences. From kindergarten through fifth grade, students engage in interactive projects that encourage creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking skills. Through this approach, they develop a deep understanding of core concepts and are empowered to take ownership of their learning.

  • As students progress to upper school, they build upon this foundation by honing their ability to set goals, inquire, and problem-solve. Our upper school program is designed to foster independence and self-motivation, preparing students for success in high school and beyond.

  • Additionally, all grade levels from K to 7th benefit from cooperative structures and positive behavior support systems, which promote a supportive and inclusive learning environment to ensure:

  1. A development of essential social and emotional skills, such as communication, teamwork, and empathy, which are vital for success in both academic and real-world settings.

  2. A sense of belonging and community, fostering positive relationships with peers and teachers.

  3. A growth mindset and resilience, teaching students to persevere through challenges and setbacks, ultimately preparing them to navigate the complexities of the modern world with confidence and adaptability.
